What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a Japanese name consisting of two words Rei and Ki meaning spiritually guided life energy (commonly known as Universal Life Energy), an energy which animates us all and is found all around us. Reiki is a form of spiritual healing using “universal life energy” channelled through the practicioner to the recipient. Reiki helps to hamonize body, mind and spirit for yourself or anyone you want to help. There are many different kinds of reiki. I am qualified in two forms. To be qualified, a practicioner receives what is commonly referred to as “attunements”, whereby the energy of the individual is “attuned” to the frequency of reiki. I am attuned in the following forms and levels:
Usui Reiki Master: Usui Reiki refers to the Japanese form of Reiki brought to the world by a man named MikaoUsui in the early 1900s.
Kundalini Reiki Master Level (3): Kundalini Reiki is a unique form of Reiki channelled in the 1990s by Danish Reiki Master Ole Gabrielsen. It is an extremely distilled form of Reiki with an emphasis on igniting a process of personal growth and expansion.
Kundalini is dormant within each one of us regardless of our religion, spiritual, or cultural beliefs. When released, it creates a vertical connection between the chakras by opening the subtle channels of energy, and most importantly, the central channel that moves up the spine. The root chakra, which is the energy centre located next to the coccyx, is where the kundalini reiki energy awakens in our body. It is also known as the kundalini fire and as it enters through the coccyx, the kundalini fire runs throughout our body, towards the main channel and exits through the crown chakra. Kundalini is a very powerful method to heal the energies in order to promote spiritual, emotional, mental and physical healing and transformation.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM MY REIKI TREATMENT
A Reiki treatment is non-diagnostic, non-interventionist, non-manipulative and no pressure is applied. A session is usually carried out with you lying down on your back, on a comfortable massage couch. There is no need to remove any clothing as Reiki energy passes easily through all materials, including plaster casts. I will place my hands gently on or over the body; there is no massage or manipulation. Reiki can also be given over a distance. Reiki may be experienced as a flow of energy, mild tingling, warmth, coolness, other sensations. Many people fall in and out of a meditative sleep state during this time.
Length of Reiki sessions may vary, but are usually 45-60 minutes in duration. Kundalini Reiki treatments usually take less time with the typical length of treatment taking 35-45 minutes.
Before we start your treatment, I will take a short case history and you can have a cup of herbal tea or water. After the treatment is finished, we will have another consultation where I can pass on any intuitive advice and information that I have received during your treatment, and any practical guidance which you can apply between treatments to assist in your wellbeing journey.
