Loosely translated, “Yoga” has one ancient and accurate meaning which, for me is the truest definition. The meaning “Yoga” comes from the Sanskrit root “Yug” which means “to yoke”, or bringing together, like “Union”. The union or yoking here is the bringing together the body, mind and the breath to act in balance and synchronicity. When this happens a natural sense of wellbeing can be experienced and this balancing effect can have transformative effects on the mental, physical and spiritual aspects. Taken even further, when meditation is incorporated, this can lead to such experiences as bliss, self-realisation and ultimately “enlightenment” which in the immortal words of Buddha is “the end of suffering”. Whether you are a sincere spiritual seeker, or you simply want to feel better in your body, yoga has a path for you. The use of breath work or “Pranayama” is a crucial tenet within the practise of Yoga to bringing alignment, and so when attending my classes, you will learn how to bring awareness to your breath and work meditatively, while discovering and deepening your postures or “Asana’s”.

The balancing and synchronising effect this has on the body and mind can be seen in the following ways:
  • Quietening of the mind (mind chatter)
  • Relaxation of the body and release of tension
  • Release of excess weight
  • Improvements to respiratory system, blood circulation and blood pressure
  • Healthier digestive system and gut health
  • Stronger and suppler joints and muscles
  • Improved core strength
  • Detoxification and cleansing of major organs
  • Improved self-esteem, lessening of low mood or depressive thoughts

If you are interested in deepening your practise or perhaps prefer to practise with an instructor in the comfort of your own home then I am happy to come out to your location. My sessions run for 1.5 hours on a one-to-one or one-to-two basis. Private tuition packages are available and can include reiki treatments and/or coaching. Please see my wellbeing page for more information. I look forward to meeting you!
